Chanel - How to Get the Look - Without the Pricetag

I could go on for days about how I adore la Maison de Chanel. Chanel is easily the most iconic, timeless, and replicated brand in just about, well, ever. Over the last century, the line has managed to remain completely relevant and in demand, but at the same time, true to the spirit of Coco. The signature tweed jacket, the little black dress - and that constant classic Chanel combination of black and white. Sadly for most of us, being clad in head-to-toe Chanel every day is a little out of the budget. Fortunately, there are ways that we can get the look without the price tag.

Pairing Black and White

There are always those mornings where you're running late and rushing to leave the house when you discover, to your horror, that you have absolutely nothing to wear.  Not only can this inevitable crisis can be averted, but every situation and occasion can be dressed for by simply pairing black with white in a couple of Chanel-esque ways.

1)The little black dress - If you do not already own one, drop everything and run, don't walk, to go out in search of the perfect LBD. This dress can be paired with ballet flats and a cardigan and is appropriate for any sort of errand or appointment, from picking up the kids from soccer practice to the dentist office to church. Subtract the cardigan, and add a suit jacket for the chicest way to get to the office on time. Remove the jacket and pop in a killer pair of heels, and it instantly transforms into the perfect outfit for going out for dinner or drinks after work.

2)White bottom with a black top - easy. Don't get me wrong - pairing a white top with black bottoms is great, but it is too easy to come out blending in with waiters and everyone else in the world who happens to be wearing a suit. It is refreshing and unexpectedly chic done the other way around. Give it a try - it's shockingly simple.

A Signature Scent
They say that scent is the strongest sense tied to memory. Having a signature fragrance gives everyone you come into contact with a very distinct and pleasant memory of you. Plus, even if you stumble out of bed in sweatpants with your hair a mess, you still come across as polished and sophisticated once you're wearing your scent.

Focus on the Fit
This one is the easiest and most important - make sure everything you own fits you immaculately. Ignore the size on the tag focus on the way the garment fits your body and have alterations done when necessary. Nothing makes you look more beautiful or stylish than wearing clothes that fit.

Costume Jewelry
This is my favorite way to take a really simple outfit and make it spectacular. First, I pick out all sorts of fun pieces in different shapes and sizes, as long as the metal is any sort of natural metallic shade (such as gold, pewter, copper, silver etc.) and any other detail is either in black or white. I also add long strings of pearls to the equation. Then, I take a look at the outfit and pile on gobs of jewelry accordingly. If the neckline is covered, on go more bracelets and rings. If the neckline is lower, necklaces happen. I just arrange them in any way I feel like having them on and it transforms anything I have on into something special and personal.
