Custom Bikinis? HALLELUJAH!

San Diegans know Ocean Beach as the place to hang out and peruse art, fashion, and anything vintage.  Molly B fits right in with the attitude akin to our own little Venice Beach, with her newly opened design studio. 

Molly B is a young entrepreneur taking on the competitive swimwear market one bikini at a time. In a world full of foreign call centers, child laborers, and corporate greed, Molly B takes her customers back to a time of quality, community, and originality - many of Ocean Beach's key qualities.

Molly B has always been obsessed with bikinis. She maintains that each woman should have a bikini collection similar to that of their shoes and purses.  (LOVE THAT!)  She has a deep love and respect for the world’s oceans and marine life and proudly displays a large bucket full of bikinis she has collected over the years splashing around in the water.

When asked why she wanted to start a swimwear company Molly B answered; “many swimwear companies say they started because they couldn’t find a suit that fit. I decided to start Molly B Bikinis solely because I love bikinis.” For those women who have trouble finding the right fit, Molly B offers custom options. She will take measurements, create a round of samples, and then construct a perfect bikini for almost any body type. With access to a wide range of colors and patterns, customers have the option to create their own one of a kind design.

Molly B opened her doors on Memorial Day 2010. She has a small inventory on display and conducts custom fittings and consultations in her design studio. She holds business hours 10 am – 6 pm Monday thru Saturday and encourages everyone to come say hello and see how she takes a bikini from start to finish.

Molly B stated she is “not trying to reinvent the bikini.” She feels there are classic designs and patterns that are always flattering regardless of the latest trends. Because she has owned so many bikinis during her life, she knows what fits, what’s comfortable, and what lasts.

Molly B has been participating in various fashion shows all around San Diego, and enjoys meeting new people while telling her story. She is determined to be recognized as one of San Diego’s top business women, and has only just begun her rise to the top.
